Real wrath of God type stuff

Quick break from our regularly scheduled programing for some fun! This week’s news cycle has me thinking of one of my all-time favorite movie scenes:

wrath of god

First try reading this as the script was laid out:

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.

Mayor: What do you mean, “biblical”?

Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor. Real wrath of God type stuff.

Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.

Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!

Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes…

Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!

Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!

Mayor: All right, all right! I get the point!

Now try reading this as with some current events:

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.

Mayor: What do you mean, “biblical“?

Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor. Real wrath of God type stuff.

Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.

Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!

Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes

Winston Zeddemore: I get the point!

What did you see that caught your eye this week?

Somewhere, Over the Recession

Somewhere, over the recession, way up high.
There’s a fund that I heard of Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere, over the recession, 401ks are true.
And the ipos that you dare to buy
Really do come through.

Someday I’ll invest upon a stock and wake up where inflationary spending, currency devaluating, socialist program creating, new 100 year high jobless claims and bailouts are far Behind me!

Where Madoff’s melt like acid drops, And UAW has been chopped.

That’s where you’ll find me.

Somewhere, over the recession, greenbacks buy. Blue chips fly over the recession,
Why then – oh, why can’t I?

If happy little gold puts buy beyond the recession,
Why, oh, why can’t I?
