March was filled with madness as I took a long, hard look at what I wanted this site to be and how I wanted to run it. Here’s a recap of all the activity. Careful, it’s a lot!

Site Updates

I take a ton of photos on my iPhone. I rarely put them up anywhere because I get weighed down by cropping, analyzing, sorting, cataloging, etc, etc, etc. In an attempt to not let ‘good be the enemy of perfect’ I am dumping my photos into the image rotator you see on the top right hand side. Many of those images will also find a home in the articles I post. 90% of the images used are mine straight from my iPhone. If you like any of them, let me know in the comments!

Social Media

Social Media is very cool. Sadly, I’m at work most of the time and I can’t update Twitter, FaceBook, etc. Plus, I really detest doing the same thing over and over again. Additionally I like to use certain tools for certain jobs. This month brought a massive change to my social media strategy:

  1. Syndicated each of my websites with the same feed.
  2. I know that different people like their media in different ways. What works for me doesn’t work for everyone. Some people want articles to be emailed to them, others prefer an RSS reader like Google Reader, others want links in Twitter, or for them to show up in Facebook. I now have my posts automatically being sent to each place for your viewing pleasure!

  3. Made separate accounts for each website / purpose.
  4. In some cases cross-pollination is good. When you are trying to establish a consistent readership, it’s bad. Now that I have different feeds and profiles for each of my websites my audience interested in bodybuilding can use those accounts, my web development audience can enjoy those accounts, and my cubicle warrior site has room to grow its own identity without indfluence from the others.

Post Frequency

February was very difficult to post during thanks both to the wedding and the honeymoon and then coming home incredibly ill from the latter. (I threw my 2 posts from Feb into the lists below, too.) March saw a return of focus and the beginings of a schedule:

  • 2 posts of new content per week
  • – my core original material.

  • Video Friday
  • – Come Friday, we all need a laugh or bit of inspiration to dust ourselves off from the working week.

  • Weekly Link List
  • – There are so many great sites out there that cover interesting material that it would be a shame not to share. If you find an interesting related article to anything covered in the pages, share it in the comments for the rest of us to benefit from.

That’s what this site is here for!

Core Philosophy

My continuing journey to recognize patterns in life and acquire some form of wisdom. Certainly a work in progress but I think I’m on the right track!

The application of philosophy to real-world problems.

This is where the rubber meets the road. Implementation of strategy in the real world. Here’s where accountability to my readers come it; I post both the projects I’ve completed AND the ones I’ve started on the right sidebar for all the world to see. That way, all the world can keep me on track!

When I travel I like to immerse myself in the experience. I am awed at the writers who can post while they are travelling. For me, real-time updates just isn’t a good fit yet. For now, I write (and post) when I return home.

April Preview

It’s tax season, spring cleaning time, and rebuild my back deck so I have somewhere nice to write article for this site time. No major trips btu there’s a good possibility of going up to Blacksburg, Virginia to Virginia Tech for the Spring Football Game. And hiking, lots of hiking! Should be a great time to make some progress on the existing projects and start

Coming up soon….

  • More Videos (everyone needs a laugh)
  • More Core Philosophy.
  • My strategy of financial insurance.
  • And the start of very interesting projects!

How was your March? How is your April shaping up? Anything bugging you about this site? Any improvements you’d like to see? Let me know!
